Pros

-The director really cares for the people and the company really gets involved in monthly events for the workers to show appreciation. -Benefits are good in term of LOA, Healthcare, Dental, Vision. -I have met a lot of good people while working at Best Buy for almost 4 years and have some really great memories.

Cons

-Second shift hours are atrocious. They cut hours a lot but during the busier months you don’t leave until the work is done, which often first shift gets to leave at their 8 hours so you’re left with their work they didn’t finish. -This position is a dead end position with no room for growth. They would rather promote their tow motor drivers into management than their admins. -The pay for this position is not great, the same position in other companies has better pay.

Pros

The pay was decent when they paid commission (although low) on pretty much all products that we sold, now that no longer applies. My store had a great team, felt like my extended family.

Cons

Company has been rudderless, changing pay structures for the worse and treating its employees like a dispensable old rag, no matter how much of an expert you are or how awesome your numbers are. Cutting hours to a minimum, small staff per shift thus making it way more stressful. Empty lies and promises, their culture is a bunch of bull since they don't do what they say when it comes to treating their most valuable workers like "rockstars". Corporate has gone from a human side to only numbers side, even then you are never good enough. Long term view is horrible, seems like they are cutting staff to a bare minimum and hiring part time kids only (low pay, low hours and no benefits). Company layoffs has been a constant occurrence, done in the most unprofessional way. CFO turned CEO has lost sight of what makes Bestbuy great, its people. The morale has been lower and lower, makes places like BrandsmartUSA look better, that gives you an idea how bad it has become! Support for employees to deal w/ customer issues is non existent. Managers and supervisors only spew what they are fed by Corporate, the inconsistency is stressful and confusing to the staff, it changes too often and are rolled out to hastily. Bestbuy outlook is bleak, they may survive but it will be a workplace for teens only and not for career experts in their field.

Pros

GM of the store is a good guy. Fairly lax with dress code and phone restrictions. Can be fulfilling when helping someone in a tough spot.

Cons

The manager in charge of Geek Squad also handles scheduling for the whole store, and they are utterly incompetent at it. They disregard availability information and put the onus on you to make sure they don't mess up. They often catch an attitude when a change is needed, and would forget about time-off requests unless reminded constantly in the weeks leading up to it. It was common to hear managers openly disparaging subordinates behind their back during break, and there was also strong resentment between managers. It was an uncomfortable environment more often than not. Management alternates between being completely hands-off to a detrimental degree, and micromanaging interactions based on how far away deadlines are. Many customer service actions require a manager to sign off, but they often took a long time and multiple requests to respond. It is encouraged to stretch the truth and employ predatory techniques to coerce customers into purchasing memberships. Several of the best-performing associates straight up lie to customers, and are praised for it by management. I did not feel comfortable doing so and was consistently pulled aside by management to "practice" coercing customers.
