Pros

Good in-office perks - great coffee, lunch. Great vibe at the top.

Cons

My team was toxic. There seemed to be a disconnect between development & where the decisions were being made.

Pros

Loved how much the founders value their employees before and they really care for the wellbeing of each individuals

Cons

A lot has changed post pandemic. The department I was has become hell. You will never enjoy working in Canva if you join that department. That department not only treats their people as robots but also doesn’t value a human being’s personal issues. They will make you feel like it’s okay but will guilt trip you and gaslight you with words like (non-verbatim) “with all the benefits and perks we have here, this should be easy for you to do if we require you to do this and that or to adjust to change so you be grateful that you are here”. They have this quarterly parties but you won’t be allowed to join if you have a shift for that day but other departments would be able to join even if they have shifts all because “our customers should go first”.

Pros

It's a reason to brag about! It's Canva! Everybody knows it! Also it's a very inclusive company, doing a lot of good stuff for communities around and keeps good work-life balance :)

Cons

Couple of years ago cut salaries for engineers in half. If you are a non-technical role. You're welcome, managers, coaches, leaders, managers of coaches, leaders of managers, internal coaches are more than appreciated. You have no clue what those roles really mean? You are not alone! It's a shame when company forgets about developing the product and switches into filling spots, just to impress investors with large number of employees. Like rest of companies which went though this path, Canva'll have to go down to realise again that designers/programmers/testers are the core of the product, rest of people are support. There is no application from forwarding emails back and forth, creating meaningless sprite sheets disconnected from real metrics, or looking and statistics without clue of understanding reasons.
