Pros

-Decent Tech Stack. Everything is AWS based -Work with very smart people -Benefits are some of the best I've seen outside of Government

Cons

- Toxic work culture created by stack based ranking performance reviews. Managers keep lists of other teams/individuals screw ups during the year and use it during performance reviews. You could have a team of 8 rock star engineers but because of stack ranking, one has to be fired every year. -Nothing gets done unless something is on fire or escalation. -Performance review criteria constantly changing and benchmarks for roles are hidden. -Secret layoffs. Co Workers suddenly disappear and management doesn't talk about it. - The internal hiring process is broken. The workday job reqs don't actually reflect anything the positions entail. The only way to find a new job internally is networking during corporate happy hours.

Pros

Good benefits and nice perks at West Creek - that's about all I can say...

Cons

(1) Raises, bonuses, and promotions are based on how others view you instead of the quality of the work that you do - if you are a good "politician", then you will excel here. This leads to people being promoted into people management positions that have no idea what it takes to really manage people. Rewarding people who do nothing but socialize with higher ups is not the way to run an organization. (2) Very stressful environment where backstabbing and politics are common - I was placed on a PIP because I asked to change managers and the PIP contained untrue information about my work performance. After my PIP was completed and I did everything I was told to do, I was told that I didn't meet expectations and let go - with a huge severance and the option for re-hire. This is due to the fact that they knew I could sue them for gender discrimination and disability discrimination (I ended up having to go on stress medication due to the bullying I endured at Capital One). Severance letter released me from being able to file legal action. In my entire career, I have had better than satisfactory performance reviews and have been promoted over and over again - I have never been written up for performance in my entire life until now. They have trashed my reputation and my career. (3) This company has a known reputation for being a horrible place to work. When I mentioned my experience to people who don't work at Capital One (such as my doctor), their reply is always that they have heard this happening several times with other people.

Pros

The pay I guess was fine

Cons

They preach DIB, yet when I was facing issues as a nonbinary person such as being misgendered by coworkers, the solutions offered were inadequate. They essentially offered for people who weren't nonbinary to explain my pronouns for me. No thank you. Not to mention I fought for years for gender free bathrooms only to get 1 in a campus of 12+ buildings that are constantly being remodeled. Far from adequate. When I became depressed and was having a difficult time because of it at work, their offerings were again inadequate. They offered time off, aka time to think which is something I didn't need, and online counseling resources even though I already am in regular therapy and psychiatry appointments. In short, their "help" offered was insulting. Finally, I was promised on several occasions that I would not go back into the office only to be told later that I had to go in and was unlikely to get an exception even though the mere thought of going in was causing me panic attacks. Live outside of a 50 mile radius from the office? Fine. Severe mental illness considered disabilities causing you to dread going in to the office? Too bad. It was incredibly hurtful after almost 8 years of working for them to be told to essentially get over my PTSD/anxiety/depression and suck it up or be fired for failing to come in to the office.
