Pros

A great name on you're resume, PTO per year is generous. I kick ass at vlookups now.

Cons

The internal tools dont work well and the process' to get stuff done are long winded and broken. We spend more time fixing errors and wading through BS because things dont work as advertised then actually doing the job itself. If you spend more time in the beginning doing it right, the whole process gets better, faster, leaner etc... My job could be done with one eye open if tools worked as they should and communication was better.

Pros

Cisco is a fun place to work and gives the right level of challenge to constantly keep me interested. Lots of smart people and most of whom get along well. Opportunities are vast if you are in a position with exposure and visibility. Broad product portfolio in many different technology areas.

Cons

Getting to big, lots of dead weight, could fire 5000 people and wouldnt skip a beat. Too many people making a career at Cisco out of making a career at Cisco. Too many products that overlap and internal competition between different product groups is very counter productive and does not benefit Cisco or the customer.

Pros

Judged on how well you perform, not the hours you work. The total rewards package is well rounded. Stock, base pay, and vacation time are all very accomodating. People are expected to perform and not required to come in to the office unless needed. There is extreme flexibility to work from wherever. The company respects their employees and encourages everyone to develop themselves in both experiences and formal education. Customers generally have a high level of respect for the services teams which makes project that more enjoyable to manage. Senior management has always been very respecful of the worlk/personal life balance.

Cons

Accounts are silo oriented. This means that when one does well on an account, the are very often only working on one account. So, the recognition does not always leave that particular acocunt team. It is also very flexible in allowing one to work from wherever, but on the other side, one needs to be in the office to get promoted. Promotions are very hard to come by and raises are not given unless one goes through a long, grueling process. Senior management needs to do a much better job of connecting performance to monetary rewards. Most of the time, one wonders why people get promoted.
