Pros

tele commute opportunities. stable company opportunities for job rotation.

Cons

no career growth highly political. top management very comfortable with pathetic growth. risk averse compensation sucks for most employees unless you are above grade 12. They request employees to be frugal but senior management spends millions and doesn't walk the talk. 360 degree feedback is done to show they care but no action is taken based on the feedback. They like to believe they are share holder friendly but share holders have been getting such a bad deal investing in Cisco in a decade.

Pros

Open communication style Management is easy to approach and competent Company is extremely well run Cutting edge technology (eg Telepresence) Possibilities to work from home and have a flexible agenda People are in general nice and easy to work with

Cons

Extremely poor benefits package (company provides the bare minimum) Salaries are seldom adjusted for inflation so employees in the company for a a long timeare paid substantially below market Stock options used as an excuse to not adjust salaries for the majority of the employees while it's been a number of years they only benefit to senior executives Aggressive sales culture leading to a very pressurized work environment Little respect for work / life balance: on paper, the company says it's important but in reality you are expected to be on duty 24/7 and they provide you the technology to make sure you are

Pros

You are working with talented and driven peers in a highly collaborative environment. The management team is very supportive of employee training and development, allowing employees to learn and grow with the company. Cisco has a culture of employee empowerment, giving employees the freedom to make important decisions.

Cons

Long hours and job strain can take toll on personal life. Need to find better work-life balance for employees. Though the company expects its employees to perform in the industry's top 10% but its compensation plans for the systems engineers is only above average.
