Pros

Cisco has a very big market cap and plenty of cash on hand. They should be able to weather economic downturns very well. Cisco provides free drinks, enables telecommuting and is very flexible on employee scheduling.

Cons

They are removing the free drinks and paid home ISP. Cisco has lost its great culture that it had in the late 1990's, where all management and employees would do what was right for the customer, eschewing ulterior motives. Their upper management is now so diluted with recent newcomers that old company bad behavior has crept in and trickled down. Directors and VPs are not very trusted by the individual contributors and first line managers.

Pros

good place to work, lot of opportunities.A positive company that makes sure that their employees are apprecitated in an apporpriate way. Driving goals from top down to make sure all employees know what direction they are headed in. Cisco is a leader across many different sub-industries within IT: routing, switching, storage, VoIP, wireless, optical, application acceleration, etc. which allows sales engineers to gain a wide breadth of knowledge and exposure across many different technologies and products. Working with Cisco is very fast paced and you get to play with cutting edge technology that has not been released to the mainstream public yet. Cisco sales managers do no micromanage; they give their employees all the freedom and resources needed to get their job done.

Cons

nothing other then the fact that it is a hugeg company.

Pros

None really at this stage.

Cons

Dealing with too many 'technically below par" engineers and even worse the Managers who are technically incompetent. Hence your learning will be limited. If you stick long enough, you will never come out of this mess because you won't get any outside jobs with your primitive skills you end up learning here at Cisco. I deal with great many business units and groups within Cisco. There are lot of unproductive people who does not have enough work to do. Like the product managers. Most of these product managers will not have their job plates full for a good portion of an year. This is also true for lots of engineering managers and directors. Essentially they are misusing the public investment with poor money management.
