A good company to work for, though not great like it once was
Pros
One of the things that I liked the most about working at Cisco is that you are usually working with some very smart and talented people. The majority of my coworkers were great people to work with, were excited when faced with new challenges and liked to get things done. Good benefits Generous severance package Ability to work from home
Cons
Massive annual layoffs Executive management in denial that Cisco is one of those companies that regularly has layoffs The company is now run by bean counters and is forcing departments to move towards a "service" model. That means that you need a budget to get even the smallest tasks accomplished. It was once easy to pull together a team and get things accomplished. The employees still want to do this, but they are now forced to ask where the funding will come from. Too much outsourcing of critical functions to people that don't fully understand the consequences of their actions.
