Pros

Work has good level of complexity ... there is plenty of it ... it is varied Global organization with (theoretically at least) global opportunities Decent benefit package Modern offices with good facilities and location

Cons

Work-life balance - seen as a resource, not a human being by management. The expected norm seems to be like pre-9am to post-5pm with virtually zero breaks. On top of this expected-overtime, occasional over-overtime can be demanded Culture seems to be work-hard, not work-hard-play-hard, it's just all about cranking stuff out as quickly as humanly possible before the next tasks come flying at you. Don't think I've smiled more than a dozen times since I started in the company ... it is literally that work-oriented Politics - seems that tenure/connections/seniority can be more important than knowledge/objective idea value Some very knowledgeable and helpful colleagues, some opposite to that, which can be frustrating given point above about politics Salary increases and convoluted annual review process. Working here may mean you fall behind peers outside of Citi, who in addition to higher salary could also have better work-life balance

Pros

Free cab facility Somewhat better compensation than service based companies Nothing else

Cons

Citi offers better compensation than the service based companies so people get good initial hike. But Citi don't have any flexible bucket plans for tax savings which ultimately results in higher tax value. Work Life Balance : In most of the Lines of business (LOB) work pressure is very high. Managers expect you to work 10-12 hours and then also to be available on call on weekends also. You don't get paid for weekend work or late night work. NO WORK LIFE BALANCE AT ALL. Development teams are getting too much request to solve prod issues.90% times dev teams are solving production issues then why they have kept production support team. We are expected to be available 24*7. CITI don't have even basic system for tax management for employees. They send surveys to declare the tax investments. You can not manage the taxes in Citi you have to do all at time of filing the IT Return which causes higher tax deduction in Jan Feb Mar salary. Lateral till 6 years of experience get Assistant manager designation which is same as that for a fresher joining Citi. Many times packages of Fresher's are more than you. HR department is not doing anything for employee engagement. They do one annual event and that too happened when diwali vacations started and most of the people had left for their hometowns. Even if HR try to do some activities there is so much work pressure you can not go into those events. As most of the managers are at US , evening calls are there. Most of the times due to calls and production issues you will get late in the office and then Managers expect you to be in office next day at 9-10am. Pathetic management. Appraisal :. All in the hands of managers. There are project politics also. They have 5 ratings 1 being the topmost. In most of the cases 1 and 2 are very very hard to achieve. In my project getting 1 is like when some person is dead and you are bringing him alive. That stupid kind of expectations are really hard to manage. Managers at US says that if team in Pune can not work like this we don't need them. In my opinion they are saving their chairs by destabilizing Pune teams because incase delivery started happening from Pune Citi will send them back to Pune which they don't want to happen. Worst of the work culture I have seen till now. Even when some person resigns managers even don't have courtesy to talk to them as they don't respect people in Pune. They have 80-90% of work done by vendors so unlike a normal client vendor relations here vendors are on the higher side .They hold the upper edge so they work according to them. Not helping Citi employees even when they know things is common. Almost all the vendors have on-site opportunities NONE FOR CITI EMPLOYEES. After so much bad things at work even when you get better compensation it is worth nothing.Work pressure is so high that overrides every thing.
