Pros

Theoretical global mobility. A solid support structure.

Cons

A very acute sense of turf. No rational relationship between performance and promotion.

Pros

According to ex-colleagues who had moved on to other banks, Citi Private Bank is comparatively non-political, and truly tries move forward for the business. Colleagues are pretty collegial and open, except for a few mid-level management who can be nasty, as with any workplace.

Cons

Despite the usual talk about meritocracy, it really is about being at the right place at the right time for any movement, lateral or otherwise. Being someone's pet also helps.

Pros

The ability to matriculate within the organizational structure is very beneficial. There is a broad variety of places for one to focus their next place within the corporate structure that is currently in place.

Cons

Depending upon the management structure that's in place, moving from one department to another can be a bit of a cloudy experience given direction and corporate cultures might not be readily available to those seeking out new paths towards specific career goals.
