Pros

CitiGroup had an interesting call center that has the best facility amongst similar jobs. The benefits package is excellent but balances out with the low pay rate. The work life balance is great as a competent individual can complete his weekly work load in 40 hours or less. The Schedule is also great if you are fortunate to get a team with a morning schedule. Overall it was fun while it lasted but I could not do it for more. (total stay 1.1yrs)

Cons

There is always politics but i have never seen a place that had politics similar to a High School. Not to mention senior management treated everyone below as dumb high school students. I was a top performer for most of my stay there with limited effort. I was always told that performance gets you what you want, however at the end it was more determined on how much ass you can lick by the end of the day. To conclude i don't lick ass so I am in a better place now :-)

Pros

The benefits were outstanding! 22 vacation days, and 12 "personal days" which were to be taken for any given reason...that along with 10 holidays -- astronomical!! They were very concerned with VOE, the Voice of the Employee. This was a new concept for me as I was surrounded by the mantra "VOC" Voice of the Customer and our bottom line was obviously tied to bringing in new customers and/or clientele. The Blue Ash facility is outstanding and a real plus to the community. I think they'll eventually make this facility the de facto Center of Excellence; but it will take time.

Cons

The management team in Long Island City was horrendous about assigning responsiblities, guiding new employee's or offering constructive feedback. I knew that I had made a mistake after just 3 weeks of accepting a job with them.

Pros

It's the scale of the company and the chance to get exposure to a true enterprise environment. Citi has a good depth and breath of on going projects and various teams. Also, there's the global reach of the firm which means you get the opportunity to work with teams in remote places. Given the emphasis on off shoring and compartmentalizing tasks working here also affords an opportunity to improve your communication skills and overall interaction skills which is a good skill to have in order to make the jump to the next step hopefully in another company. Also there's a lot of brand recognition for the company which is good if you're into that sort of thing.

Cons

The bureaucracy of the company. It is so large and bloated that there are layers upon layers of middle management. Middle management in particular is often fearful of making a decision so ultimately all decisions and actions of individuals in the company become a CYA mode decision. (hopefully everyone reading this knows what CYA means ... hint: cover your @..) all this means that most ppl here are very risk averse and more than that because of the office politics are always looking for a reason to really screw their fellow employee especially if said employee is on a different team. There are a lot of power struggles going on especially at the lower middle management levels.
