Pros

Employee discount offered to staff.

Cons

Horrible management that are just plain horrible and speak down on you. You could do 100 rights here and the 1 mistake will be immediately picked up and commented on, management do not know how to speak fairly and only speak at you, deflect your opinions and employees are frequently called slow and lazy. There are only ever 2 people per shift this does not change during delivery days, this means there is a team member on the tills handling customers, self checkouts, parcel collections and drop offs whilst also having to pick and pack uber, deliveroo and just eat orders, these are incredibly busy with the average order being 10-20 items, if you ask for help from management you will not receive and are often instead questioned on why you are asking, there are colleagues that are in their late 60s also in this same situation with no help offered and told off when they are unable to do it quickly. The other team member is left with an 8-10 cage delivery that management expect them to have completed before they go home. My mental health and disability requests have been ignored, I have been told I need to get on with it and there is nothing they can do, I have explained in detail my issues so there is nothing that could be misunderstood about my conditions and I excuse for them to be ignored. I feel scared coming into work and I leave exhausted, upset and stressed, work should not feel like this and every single one of my coworkers also feels the same, so many people are going sick to try to avoid work or just coming in depressed and anxious. We are not robots and we are trying the best we can and you are destroying people’s mental health. You are told to be in early and made to leave late all unpaid to try to get work done because of the lack of staff and growing workload. If you are expecting what is advertised/what managers tell you on interviews you will be very unpleasantly surprised and I am certain from speaking to colleagues of other local stores we are all in very similar positions, we are not a one off bad store. I am only holding on to my job here due to the fact that I have bills today, even though it is destroying me mentally I have no choice until I am able to get a new job, but this is a warning to anybody who is thinking about it to consider my review first.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're genuinely sorry to read about the experience you've described. No colleague should feel spoken down to, unsupported or worried about coming into work. The concerns you've raised about management behaviour, staffing levels, wellbeing and the handling of disability related adjustments are very serious and they do not reflect the inclusive and respectful culture we want for every colleague at the Co-op. We want to understand more so that we can look into this properly. If you feel comfortable, please contact the BHD team who can provide confidential guidance and support. You can reach them on 0330 606 1844 or by email at bhd@coop.co.uk. You can also reach out to your Operations Manager who can help ensure your concerns are escalated and addressed in line with our policies and expectations. In addition, you may find support from our colleague networks. The Represent Network supports colleagues with disabilities and long term health conditions and provides a place to share lived experience and seek advice. If you feel this would be helpful, you can find contact details on the Colleague Hub - SharePoint Site. Thank you again for raising these concerns. Your feedback matters because it helps us understand where we need to improve and how we can better support our colleagues.

Pros

Finishing your shift and you get to go home.

Cons

Stressful Understaffed Higher ups constantly demanding the in possible Fairness, bullying and harassment policy isn't worth the paper it is written on. Treat people rudely Health and safety only applies when they feel like it. Don't care about their staff Constantly getting abused More worried about if their staff is stealing rather than the actual public Every thing is very looooooong to do anything in the coop they need new systems. You put a Grievance in about a SM and yet they allow the same SM to rate your performance which goes on your record.
