DO NOT WORK SALES HERE

Pros

The only pro here is the health insurance benefits.

Cons

There is a huge disconnect between upper management and the sales floor. They push the old school agenda that doesn't work in this day and age. They want you to stay late without overtime pay, they don't want you to make friends at work, they give us crappy leads, it's an all around mess of an organization. The senior VP constantly brags about how much money he makes and all of the vacations he takes while the rest of us are barely scraping by to pay our rent. According to him we are the ones to blame for the state of the company, not the fact that their constant bad policy updates and high turnover rates make it impossible to move up and succeed. It is an absolute miracle if you make it through your first year at Dell. Don't expect to make money either, even if you over attain your unrealistic quota you're making 60k at best. Other companies at similar roles offer BASE PAY that is larger than the TTE plan at Dell.

Pros

Compensation and benefits are the only pros

Cons

Dell was maybe once a great place to work, but the company has unfortunately gone further down hill every year. Dell is toxic and run by horrible leadership on every level. Those in leadership positions are there for power and/or a higher pay check. They talk nonsense and have no idea what’s going on with the work or their team. Many of them can barely do their own work leaving no time to actually lead effectively as a people leader. It’s also rare that you collaborate with anyone that is actually happy to be at Dell. Everyone is overworked, under appreciated, and suffering in some way shape or fashion. It’s actually really sad. We have lost so many good people who quit because they were fed up or were laid off. There is constant turnover. The hybrid policy was the biggest f*ck you to all of us. Most offices were closed leaving us no choice but to accept no promotions, no T&E, and no respect. Those who were near an office didn’t like to be forced to go in. Dell doesn’t even pretend to care about their people anymore. It’s pathetic. If you’re still there, what are you doing? You’re better than Dell.

Pros

Healthcare, 401k match, flexible PTO

Cons

Where do I start? Management is subjective, if you are not a recent college grad then you are wasting your time. If you aren't on their list, you will get recycled leads and you will have to focus on regaining or new business. They will give the best leads and books of business to people they want to succeed. Forget a promotion if you are remote. They want people in office and do not let them tell you its any different. When there is any inkling of a downturn in economy, they will let you go in a heartbeat. Upper management talks a good game but lower management does the opposite. Stay away unless you want your career decided by incompetence and a dice roll. Do not bother if you are over the age of 30, agism definitely exists here or at least in Nashville. Salary is awful ($20 an hour plus commission) compared to other tech companies and commission can be ok if you hit at least 150%. Anything else, you will be questioning why you took this god forsaken job.
