I'd still work there if they hadn't laid everyone off.

Pros

Before they starting laying everybody off and closing their home sales departments across USA, it was a great place to make good commisions. I made 3000 on one 2 week paycheck at one time. It was fun to work there alot of the time. They play fun games and give away alot of stuff. Giftcards are given out all the time. It's nice to win something for being the best every once in a while. I would go back if I knew the job security was there. If only they wouldn't have started selling retail I would still have my job!

Cons

They never kept you in the loop. You always had this feeling that something was going on behind the curtain that they didn't want you to know about. Dell kept making a ton of money and people were always talking about how we were the most popular computer sales in the world. All this awesome stuff was going on but then we would get yelled out for not selling enough or they would change up our whole script. At one point, they had our greeting like this, "Thank you for choosing dell, where we build a total solution and yours is here. My name is Jesse, what can I build for you today" Now that is a mouth full. some of the things they wanted us to do were rediculous.

Pay and benefits you can change shift at short notice.

Cons

Some managers think their so important they wont even say hello. Very little praise when you are doing your job weel but as soon as you make the smallest mistake they are down on like a ton of bricks. Four weeks ago they told told 200 people they were losing there jobs some had only been there for a shortime and had moved from good jobs in other companies, you also have people who have there 10 or mor years who will be out of work by the end of June.

Pros

Dell provides a very dynamic and energetic work environment. There is a lot of opportunity for a hard working professional to shine and progress. Compensation package is very competitive.

Cons

While the company is excellent to work for, it is best suited for limited 2 key fields of work -- IT Sales and Engineering. Given the nature of the business at Dell, you either make those PCs or sell them. Rest of the positions don't get much credit as a value-added resources (with one exception, perhaps, Help Desk Staff - but then again, that has been an after thought resulting from consumer backlash on Dell's earlier decision of out-sourcing.
