Great place to work, amazing people, but be prepared to deal with impending layoffs on a daily basis

Pros

Dell has done some amazing things in the IT industry. I personally believe their best years may still be ahead of them. Some of the most passionate people I have ever worked for have gone through their doors.

Cons

Dell lays off peoples on an almost continuous basis. The rotating door of hiring and laying off has become a local joke in the community. In the Round Rock Texas area it is almost a rite of passage that you must at some point work for Dell and be layer off by them.

Pros

I can't really say too many nice things about the company. Health benefits is the only reason I stayed and I really didn't use them either.

Cons

Diversity. They cry "it's good to be diverse and you should be diverse with ambiguity and all, but that is a bunch of bologna . Personal growth is only there "if they like you.' Work-life balance is only there "if they like you/" Training is only done just to say "it's done." Not really caring about the employee can damper the work ethics there. They would have Christmas parties, give away turkeys for Thanksgiving, sometimes giving incentives to employees for being there and now its nothing. Managers ready to fire you at any minute.

Nice office location/building good cafeteria, talented co-workers, tele-commute policy, casual dress code, decent benefits. IBP bonus (sometimes)

Cons

This company has a lot of cons all centered around job security. If you are a US employee in IT your on the list to get let go, Its not if but when. they would rather hire 10 from India than 1 in the US (which it takes 10 to do what 1 US resource can do). No raises, IBP has never been paid in full during the time i was at the company. IT processes are so antiquated that it take 3 times as long to do your job than it should.
