Pros

Great company with great people. Once you hit a salary position there is much more leniency with PTO and attending events. - PTO is allowed from the start of employment - Tuition reimbursement - Volunteer events and activities - 401k company match - Hybrid work environment (post covid - before was difficult to get full remote position) - Culture is great. They care about the customer.

Cons

- Hard to get to a salary position - Promotions are few unless you go to another business unit all together - Some areas of the organization are not so kind - Very slow with innovation - Have to put in a password a lot - Pay could be better in all areas of expertise - Hit or miss with good vs bad bosses for those with a career here or been around a while to know - Too much old school thinking and will hinder those who grew up within the digital frontier and are seeking to grow in areas of technology such as automation, AI, VR, and other similar aspects

Be Careful on Management

Pros

-Good benefits -Good job stability - Good pay

Cons

- Hit or miss management. Not going to name names, but if you find find yourself interviewing with an overly cocky director, who tells you all the reasons why he can tell you are the perfect fit for his team and spends the majority of the meeting lecturing you on why his team is so great... don't tell me I didn't warn you why? -Because they will be among the least communicative people you have ever worked with (but, still somehow criticize your communication skills) - Will be ready to throw you under the bus whenever possible (except, ironically, when it reflects poorly on their hiring/managing skills) -Will pretend to project good team management/interpersonal skills, but actually turn out to have zero interpersonal skills and no true interest in their team's wellbeing -Overall, just won't understand how to effectively manage and should really not be managing anyone at less than a Sr. Manager level Not everyone manager is this bad, of course, far from it. But, my experience was so dreadful, I have to post it as truthfully as possible (with the understanding that more favorable experiences will help partially offset this one). I also get that corporate America ain't beanbag, but, again, am partially typing this up in the hopes that someone in HR will take not that, hey, DFS directors are not all god's gifts to the company and more attention might need to be directed to whether or not they actually, you know, can manage people.
