Toxic Work Culture and Poor Management

Pros

Great Campus and exciting Product line . Market -share leader.

Cons

Lack of Management training that develops employees professionally. Highly political and toxic environment that focus on personal gain rather than collaborative culture. Low trust environment that hinders work and employee satisfaction as well as mental health. Extreme lack of leadership that creates a reactionary tactical approach (with no clear strategy and goals) and creates confusion, as well as no clear path to growth. Career growth and professional development is informal and depends completely on relationship with manager. As managers change years of work and specific career path need to be reestablished, no consistency in career development. Lack of leadership contributes to managers, including Directors becoming focused on personal gain given there is no clear unifying vision. The meaningful nature of the work is overshadowed by a toxic work culture. Zero work life balance (no flex time).

Pros

The company is solid, growing double digits. Salaries are above industry average for the positions. Benefits are good. There are tons of perks of being an employee, from cafeteria to on-site gym. Employee events are often and fun. Overall, coworkers are nice and helpful.

Cons

However, depending on BU and department, there is no work life balance and no flexibility. So no time to enjoy the perks. Senior management have complete lack of leadership and management training and don’t appreciate inputs or new ideas. If you love being a worker bee with no time off and cero ability to add value, this is the perfect place. Working 60-80 hrs weeks is the normal. Also, extremely political environment. Cero accountability for upper management.

Pros

Good pay. Company does well in industry.

Cons

I was excited to get a job at Edwards. But I'm so disappointed in what has gone on there. Instead of a great opportunity and support, I got managers who can't make a decision because they don't want to be accountable for anything. Mangers, supervisors and project managers talking trash about employees 10 feet from where the same employees are working overtime to meet deadlines so higher ups can get THEIR bonus. Nada for us. Managers yell and scream and write nasty emails to leads and include all people in the department. Managers assume employees have made a mistake, call them out on presumed error, but no mistake was made. Colleagues ask for 'help' with projects then take full credit for other people's work. Colleagues only throw each other under the bus and don't help each other. Employees get very vague direction and when something isn't done exactly right, employees are blamed although they're just trying to do what they can. Mandatory overtime. Edwards seems great on the outside, but stay away from here unless you really need a paycheck. You won't get an opportunity to move up unless you fit a certain demographic.
