Majority of management team suffer with an alergy to making decision, and will do anything possible to avoid taking responsibility. As a sub-ordinate, you are expected to make your own decisions at highest level, with huge impact, and risk to the business. These are sort of decisions that Director would make at £100k+ years salaries. Certain "Senior Managers" come to office, check their emails, buy their coffee, and book their next holidays. Nice work if you can get it, and why not! The project I worked on, the dates were constant being pushed forward - without appreciation of amount of work required. Client was sold false promises, and dates were slipped, and slipped again. Often it feels like some Capita staff work for a competitor, and make the job incredibily difficult for you. You'll also come across staff with 'teflon shoulders' yes they are the ones that tell you - not my responsbility, and I won't tell you who to talk to. There are huge smoke screens created about how wonderful some people are, who lack the basic understanding. Certain staff are hired because they worked together with another colleague. They are fast tracked into promotions, and made Heads of Department of Doing Nothing. Insider boys club that thrives on nepotism. Aside from fact that some staff walk in when they feel like it, after 10am and others are expected to come in at 8:30am! All finish at almost same time, in fact the late comers are allowed to go at 3-4pm, whenever, they feel like it. Because they get to proof read a document that is sent once a week. Because of not enough space in office, again the boys on the insiders club, get to work from home. But you can't get them on phone or email for a few hours!
