Work hard and the opportunies + progression follows
Pros
Speed of progression - I went from entry level trainee to Branch Manager in less than 2 years. Salary progression is just as quick if you work hard. Was responsible for a multi-million pound business with 13 direct reports in the centre of Edinburgh at the age of 25. I was able to shape the role and had real responsibility and influence in the customer service, revenue/profitability and development strategy of my branch. Promote from within culture means you have a window into the future opportunities ahead of you both within and outwith rental. I'm now in a role where I have strategic influence at a senior level and have only been with the company 6 years. Work hard and network well and doors can easily open across the company. Rental employees have all started in the same position as you. They understand the stresses and challenges of the role and can support you through tougher times. Equally, they are generally all a similar age and some of my best friends to this day are those I have worked with over the years.
Cons
This is not a 9-5 grad office job but equally no-one goes through the recruitment process without this being made very clear. There are times of the year where the business requires an extra commitment and other times where there is plenty flexibility available. Understanding this and working with the team around you to make this work for both you and business is key.
