Pros

-Decent pay for right out of college -A nice office complex (that you will never get to enjoy) -A decent benefits package -A chance to take on a lot of responsibility -Retain airline miles and hotel points -Nice cafeteria (that you will rarely eat in) -If you can land a position as a developer, writer, or QA, you may have a better experience than Implementation or Technical Service staff.

Cons

-No work/life balance. In Epic's eyes you can always work more. I average 75 hours a week. My cousin who is a MD resident works less than I do. -No rhyme or reason to promotions. -Middle management does not exist. Your Team Lead will be on 4 customers and will not have time to manage you effectively -Middle managers are inexperienced. My current team lead is 22. -Internal communication of knowledge is lacking and processes for researching issues make no sense. -No real project management unless you advance to the role of IC or higher. -High turnover. People quit every day and armies of recent grads are hired to replace them -Implementations are sloppy affairs. Processes need to be retooled and more structure needs to be incorporated into the project management

Pros

Good salary for college graduates. I earn more than an average Harvard graduate. Summer is nice here. Beautiful Campus. Makes you become mentally tough.

Cons

Your life will become miserable after your 7th month at Epic. 60 hours each week is normal. If you want to experience a sweat shop life, Epic will be a good place.

Pros

Free Juice and milk. Health care industry may have a bright future.

Cons

No personal life. working over 60 hours a week to meet the deadline. No one really appreciate your hard work. Team lead has bad time management over big projects as a team - he/she will ask you to finish a project in one week even though it should take 1 month. No time to do good design (or even think) - so endless bugs coming out of the released development and then you spend more time to fix those bugs (they call QA notes). Not too much about your programming skills but about "different workflow" in clinical world. You need to remember lots of "system settings" before actually coding. M and VB are bad languages in 21st century. You work here for 1 year and quit or work here for 10 years because your working experience only valuable inside this company. The company culture doesn't encourage employees to tell the truth - even you feel lots of pressure and too much work to do, keep it to yourself because your team lead won't care and people around won't complain about this.
