Pros

Oppertunities to move around internally. Some excellent education programs. Long holidays and soft benefits. Relaxed atmosphere - not too much preassure.

Cons

At the moment hard to make a caerrer as the bank is shrinking due to CEE. Big salary differences if you started here compared to in house developed staff.

So far, so good

Pros

The environment was quite stable, some colleagues were motivated to move things forward, overall was quite OK. Work-life balance was also there, no overtime was required and it wasn't part of the company culture to stay late in the office. Also the trainings and the training budget was a decent one.

Cons

No real possibilities to grow. Some positions were artificially created just so that people are rewarded for being for a long time there and so on. The overall atmosphere was not the best one. As there were many changes, people weren't focusing on their jobs, but more on gossiping and that ruined the moral of the *workers*. Also the innovation was partially missing, but this changed as Erste did a new company with focus only on it.

A Central European Bank

Pros

I have been working at erste for a few years. I like the place. The envirinment is rathe international, with an obvious central european bias. The bank is very emplyee friendly and the compensation policy is pretty fair. In a smaller scale an employee at erste faces the same challanges as an employee of a large international retail bank such as: Unicredit, Raiffeisen and HSBC or Standard Chartered.

Cons

The bank has grown very fast, but the internal structure has not been adapted. There are no clear career path. The HR department only task used to be calculating the pay checks and not it is struggling to get a real Human Resource Deaprtment role. The integration policy with the subsidiariers is based too much on the idea of the "soft touch". For this reason it is very hard at any level to make colleagues in the subsidiaries do something for the Group holding if their are not willing to.
