Pros

Staff discount was good, I could get a fairly decent shop for around £20

Cons

Farmfoods manages to stay cheap by employing as few people as possible to work as many hours as possible. Management consistently have to work well over their contracted hours in order to cover absences, and there is no appreciation or thanks from higher ups or even overtime pay, and this is before going into the obvious impact on your social life. Nothing is done about staff absences, serial offenders aren't even disciplined. Stocktakes take place every two or three weeks, always on a Saturday night after the store has closed, and are mandatory for all staff. Theft is a huge problem, as the stores are easy targets for shoplifters. Staff members who are on the till are expected to give the customer the best possible service while simultaneously watching potential shoplifters on the shop floor, a near impossible task. Area managers seem to suffer from that age old problem of being promoted from stores and forgetting everything about how things actually work on the shop floor, expecting everything to be perfect and constantly giving out conflicting directions on how best to run your stores.

Poor Culture, Poor Progression and Worse Retention

Pros

Staff discount is a plus if anything? Meet plenty of nice colleagues within the store.

Cons

The company has invested large sums into expansion, but practically zero into its wider infrastructure. There is no automation in areas such as ordering, and each store is poorly equipped. Turnover across all areas of the business is very high especially among retail assistants and store managers who just cave in due to pressure. The hours are long as expected but you will often put in extra for no recognition which would go a long way to improve the atmosphere. Avoid if you can.

Pros

Cheap food that's about it

Cons

Low pay, management clueless, any amounts of food goes to waste, health and safety is shocking, won't even provide seats for the till staff which have to stand for hours on end at tills which are too small, whoever has the least power will get stitched with everything, no security, always dodgey things going on, teamwork is not even allowed they will rather you all be miserable and all hate each other, management usually are to blame for all arguments in the store, overal if you want to be very depressed work here!
