Toxic work culture

Pros

Many good people work there

Cons

My manager lied in my performance reviews and HR acknowledged that he was lying, but said that Fidelity's official policy is that factually inaccurate statements in performance reviews are not considered a problem. HR also said that if my coworkers were spreading false allegations about me, that was a legitimate performance problem that my manager should report about me and that they were not willing to do anything about the defamation. All of this violates their written policies on professional ethics, but they have a disclaimer on the policy that basically says it doesn't actually mean anything.

Pros

nice campus and free gym membership

Cons

They have become extremely cheap. They do not provide lunches, discounted lunches, and now they have removed free snacks as well. They also refused to hire new core reps so instead they offloaded the core calls to every department. So you now have people who make 250k a year who are only suppose to be servicing executives taking calls from people asking "whats a 410k" (401k obviously). They also treat you like children and are extremely overbearing. They say there is no script but you have to take calls as if your taking it for the quality team and not to actually help the customer. I have many times had a customer tell me that I was the best rep they ever had and loved me and I got a poor review because I didnt follow some arbitrary archaic model that someone thinks is the word of god. Upward mobility is terrible in this company as well. You can make it out of the core rep role relatively quick but once you make it to the 2nd level then you are stuck in the biggest mess you will ever see. There is no path forward for 95% of the employees.

Promotion discrimination

Business Outlook

Pros

Decent pay, PTO's and employer match

Cons

Promotion discrimination! I am in the same entry level role from last 3 years, and have an IT experience of more than 6 years. Manager doesn't have any meaningful conversations around growth plans and shows bias within the team and chapter. I am the only person in the team from last 3 years who have not got promoted. My manager has told me that we have to find more opportunities but never really share a proper feedback for my growth. This is really traumatizing, I can't even look for other jobs within fidelity and outside because of my visa status. I feel management is taking advantage of this.
