Pros

I have been working at G-research for 6 months. I would definitely recommend working here for the following reasons: - great people. People working here are extremely kind and helpful. As a new starter this has been very precious to 'make things run' (use the computing infrastructure, dealing with data....) - it is an actual 'research' job. You have access to lots of data + computing ressources and have to investigate how to make better predictions. As in academic research you have a lot of freedom. - very good company culture. Also there are lots of opportunities for learning new things. - It seems to me that the company tries to care about its employees as much as it can by organizing events (drinks, parties, activities...), providing lunches - great office location in central London.

Cons

- As many other reviews point out, it is true that remote work is limited here. However, I do not see it that much as a downside for the moment: it is much more convenient to work with people in person when you start a new job. - Compared to academic research, you have less impression of 'working for yourself' : you're working for the company.

Pros

G-Research has been a brilliant place to work. You are surrounded by incredibly smart, motivated colleagues, and are given the budget and support to consistently improve your skills. The atmosphere is relaxed and there’s a lot of effort put in to making sure people have fun, and enjoy their time here. There’s also very little ego in the company. Everyone I’ve worked with has been incredibly giving with their time and willing to help out with any issues, even at a very senior level. It’s been great!

Cons

Communication could have been better around returning to office. However it feels like management have listened to feedback around this and the message is now far clearer.

Pros

Amazing benefits and very sociable company. Everyone is so friendly and the atmosphere both in the office and virtually is the best I’ve experienced. You get the perks of working at a large firm, but the charm of working in a small team that works closely together and supports each other. There is lots of opportunity for learning and development, and an attitude to match. It is clear that GR know how to get the best out of their staff, and I feel so lucky to be a part of it.

Cons

In the past this may have been the opportunity to work flexibly, but this is something that GR have addressed and the balance is now perfect.
