Pros

I joined the company as a new grad engineer. Glassdoor is a great company. I can't think of how someone can go through a job seeking process without using Glassdoor. I love the company and it was the reason I chose it over other offers I had at the time. But I wish I could have a better manager. I don't wish to be in another team because all my teammates are knowledgeable and fun to work with. It's just weird how a manger of a hard core back end team doesn't like coding and spent most of his time in meetings without implementing any important piece of code while the company is still a startup. It's ok to be in meetings but it's not right when you are an engineer lead and have more meetings than your project manager. Yes we have a PM. All the team members could see the problem, brought it up but nothing changed. I don't want to go in more details, but I do want to see Glassdoor successful. Look back at the journey I had at Glassdoor, I do realize I learnt many things from my teammates. I'm glad to know and have them in my life. I don't regret my choice, I just wish it could be better for everyone. To any new grad: choose your manager for your first job, it should be the highest priority because he/she will be your mentor (or no mentorship at all if you choose a wrong one).

Cons

I want to say management, but I can't really say so because I only experienced it in my team. Maybe managers of other teams are better.

I'm glad you valued the people you worked with - I agree we have an amazing group of people. I'm sorry that you did not have a great experience with your manager. I believe code reviews are important for driving quality and knowledge sharing. However, requiring comment before approval is not part of the process, nor should it be. Also, as any Glassdoor employee knows, we do value a work environment that is emotionally honest, but this shouldn't be at the expense of effectiveness or quality of work. In most cases, open communication and authenticity makes us better. I'll follow up on both of these concerns. Thank you for your honest feedback.

Pros

-Unmatched company culture, best I've seen and will ever see. Fun place to work, great work environment, when I first started I walked in with a smile on my face every day -The CEO is a great leader. Transparent, honest, smart, and most importantly, extremely passionate about our mission. Feels like he's not in this to make money, but to change the world of employment. Elon Musk of employment. -Pick any 10 people that work here and they will start their own successful company. The talent here is above and beyond what the Bay Area has to offer. I'm shocked we aren't being poached left and right, and offered Teslas to leave. -Work/life balance is great -We will be the next Linkedin one day, and when that day comes, this will be the easiest sale in the industry.

Cons

-Compensation will be the difference in top ENT reps staying or going. A top performing Enterprise sales rep who has brought in millions for the company gets paid the same with the same opportunities as someone who was hired yesterday. Why would that rep stay? He/she can make 40% more anywhere else with an immediate promotion, equity, and equal benefits. -More compensation issues. All the blood, sweat, and tears that went into hitting our best year ever last year was quickly forgotten when I was told I was being paid the same this year with a significant quota increase and significantly more responsibility. -This is the hardest sale in the industry, and I honestly think the hardest sale period. It forces the sales team to be the best, and we are, but aren't treated like it sometimes. -So many communication issues internally and broken processes. I'm not going to list them because it would take too long.

Earlier this week we rolled out significant changes within the sales org and I'm optimistic about feedback from the teams. Yes, as our business continues to grow, quotas have increased but we now have new plans in place designed to let you reap very powerful rewards. Changes include new comp plans with new bonuses and richer acclerators. Comp plans are uncapped which means the sky is the limit and the richer accelerators means you're rewarded for anything and everything over your target. Employees are telling us that the new, more equitable territories are vastly improved. We also rolled out new tools and training which we've made huge investments in so that you can be more productive and successful in meeting your goals. In our ENT segment specifically we recently introduced a strategic accounts tier to provide another path for advancement (and higher compensation). We know there may be tweaks to make over the next few weeks and months, but after a long first quarter of working through many of these details, we are poised for incredible momentum and success.

Pros

- Great base salary - Leader in industry - Relatively easy product to understand - Generous PTO

Cons

- Internal process was a nightmare. Reps have to manage two CRM's (Indeed and Glassdoor) and deal with minor things like billing issues, case management, etc. I found navigating the CRM more complex and burdensome then any other job. - Company talks about diversity equity and inclusion none-stop and it is one of the major driving missions/initiatives of the company, however there is no real diversity of thought. If you are right leaning and have specific beliefs you better keep them to yourself. Executives including the CEO make it very clear where they stand on polarizing/politically charged issues make it clear that your thoughts/beliefs are the "Other" yet, if you were to flip it, and state your thoughts you would be ostracized. This is done openly in company wide meetings, slack discussions, and anonymously on their Fishbowl app. - I found the sales training to be inadequate. I was just told to listen to recordings and in my 1:1's "what can I help you with" which just did not help. - I believe the expectation was that I would be able to use my prior sales experience and skills to sell Glassdoor products, however I felt that to sell an Employer Branding product, there should be specific training. - Bonus structure is completely out of wack and confusing. The company I worked for prior I made almost 2x what I made with Glassdoor, and now with my current job I am on pace to make 2x what I made with Glassdoor. I do not know why great sales people stay with Glassdoor when you can make so much money elsewhere.

Thank you for leaving a review about your experience at Glassdoor. We are thrilled to hear you see us as an industry leader and are happy with your salary and work perks. While our partnership with Indeed presents many opportunities for Glassdoor and our people, we recognize it can also present unique challenges and operational headwinds. Our GTM leadership team is committed to always improving the experience of our people and working to not only provide more tools but to reduce these obstacles. I'm sorry to hear your experience regarding DEI. At Glassdoor, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are a core pillar of our company strategy and mission. This is what makes Glassdoor a best in class organization. If you ever feel like that is not the case, I highly encourage you to reach out to our people team or myself directly. Glassdoor is an amazing place to work because of people like you! - Melinda Wyman, Director of Sales - ENT-IS/UMM
