Pros

- Culture is like nothing I've experienced before. Co-workers truly assume good intentions, I haven't encountered any snarky or pretentious people. If you make a mistake nobody belittles you for it. - The mission is really important. Hiring seems broken everywhere, and Glassdoor is genuinely trying to fix it. -Benefits are quite good, with great health insurance family plans and wellness options like Classpass - Work life balance actually means something. I generally start and end my day at reasonable times and rarely need to work beyond that. Unlimited PTO and ability to actually use it is also great -Transparent leadership

Cons

- Many of Glassdoor's products do not work very well. Job matches in particular have been wonky for a long time and frustrating to use, especially compared to LinkedIn. - Strategic direction could be more clear - Smaller company so fewer lateral growth opportunities, although you can definitely get promoted

Appreciate the feedback! I agree the culture at Glassdoor is truly special and our teams are full of good people who care. Also, thanks for the feedback on product quality. You are right. The product has grown quickly and we have traded off quality in some areas. That is always a balance and we need to make sure core areas of the product meet the standards of our users or they will go somewhere else. Matching is an area of focus and investment this year and I'm confident accuracy will improve greatly. - Andy Chen, SVP, Product, CPO

Pros

The work being done here matters to the larger world.

Cons

Some engineering leaders care more about shipping the absolute bare minimum as fast as possible and hitting arbitrary, poorly-defined milestones than they do about listening to anyone with ideas or opinions which differ from their own. Quality is an afterthought. No time is allowed for substantive, cross-discipline collaboration. And some engineers/managers are more inclined to rewrite their coworkers' code to match their own ideas for how to do things, less inclined to accept when something isn't "perfect," and disinclined to work together to define clearer definitions of done. Yet they expect others to wrap up as soon as something is good enough and chuck it over the fence to others without regard. This is one of many double standards. Things used to be much more collaborative here. What changed? When did people stop caring what others think?

Thank you for your feedback and for leveraging our platform to provide it. I agree that quality should never be an afterthought. We should never compromise on quality. In fact, as you know We Build Quality is one of our principles and we should be doing all we can to ensure we are living by our engineering standards. To the extent you are comfortable, I would recommend leveraging one the of the many channels we have for surfacing your feedback in more detail. Those channels include engineering huddles, engineering slack, skip level meetings with people above you manager including a meeting with me. Thanks again! Hope we address these concerns soon. - Rodrigo Oliveira, Chief Technology Officer

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Since you stated “excellent pay” as one of our pros, it’s likely because your sales performance is stellar. Thanks for the hard work and focus on exceeding sales targets! Our remote-first culture is conducive to flexible working and I’m glad that you are leveraging this to impact your work/life balance. After recently visiting Dublin, I understand the desire for flexibility and the option to work from one of the beautiful offices as you like and to connect with your amazing colleagues at a local pub from time to time. The culture you’ve built is inclusive, hard-working, and fun. You are right to call out that we have work to do on Career Progression. As you know, we are actively building a program and communications for career progression, but won’t be ready to roll it out for a few months. Though I’m sorry we won’t have this ready sooner, I’m confident that once complete, it will provide transparency and clear expectations on career opportunities. Finally, thanks for the feedback on RSUs. We strive to be competitive with our total compensation but know that we can always improve. Thanks again for your review and for your contribution to Glassdoor! Val Roush, VP of Sales
