Pros

Glassdoor offers quite a few benefits and one of them is being remote even though we have an office. You can be flexible with your working hours as long as your work is done. Great people and minds around with a lot of experience to share and learn from. Glassdoor is quite transparent with changes and what is going on in the business so that is always a plus.

Cons

Sometimes feels like there is a lot of stress and pressure to overachieve as hitting your target is not enough for praise and job well done. At times there are things out of your control and you are told it is ok, it happens to anyone but then it will be brought up again in a way that you have not done your job and that it will reflect bad on your career. There are career opportunities internally for sure but in order to be promoted you have to tick so many boxes and those will only depend on your managers opinion. There is room for argument and questioning of the processes and feedback given to you but at the end, it is manager's way and no other way so you never win or feel like you are heard and listened to. In terms of feedback/performance reviews, the negative is always more highlighted than all the good that you have done.

Thank you so much for your review and taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We’re so happy to hear that our commitment to allowing our teams to ""work from anywhere"" has been so beneficial to you. I'm so glad you see the value in our commitment to transparency. We feel those we work for and with are so critical to our business success, and we ensure to consider your thoughts and concerns when we make business decisions. I like that you also believe that Glassdoor has some of the best minds, talent, and experienced people in the business. I’ve been able to learn a lot from it as well. I can understand how stressful environments can often be demotivating and certainly sad to hear you experienced that here. Thank you so much for your critical feedback around your experience in our promo and employee review process. It is important to hear this feedback, as we want to ensure we can provide our employees with incredible career progression and open performance discussion. The CSM organization has developed comprehensive competencies that break out the skills/expertise needed across each level. I would encourage you to set up time with your manager on a monthly basis to review those competencies and come up with an action plan to drive progress. This can also be an opportunity for you to highlight your successes. This can act as a real time performance review document that your manager can leverage when writing your review in order to upkeep a transparent and collaborative process. If you experience any pushback from your manager in getting this scheduled, please feel free to connect with me. I'm happy to have a follow up with you if you're open to it so that I can support you, your growth, and overall satisfaction at Glassdoor. Thank you so much for being such a great part of Glassdoor’s Customer Success Team! - Regina Amundson, VP, Head of Customer Success - regina.amundson@glassdoor.com
