      New Managment is killing the company

      Pros

      Prior to Sidney Harman's retirement, it was a pretty good place to work. There was a degree of job security and recognition of one's contributions.

      Cons

      The new management is destroying the company, especially on the Consumer side. No one in power has had any experience in the Consumer, Pro or Automotive fields. Thousands have been laid off and replacement employees, when hired, never come with any relevant experience. This is not a place to go if you want any job security.

      Pros

      The new management team recognizes the challenges ahead and is positioning the company to face them squarely. The work-life balance is highly encouraged and the work environment is a casual one.

      Cons

      The company is not technology driven. It lags behind our competitive companies because of lack of innovation. Marketing is always afraid to make bold decisions due to "risks" and the products put out on the market tend to become a "me too" product.

      Pros

      You like living in the San Fernando Valley (but who does?). Decent discounts on employee purchase of company product.

      Cons

      Short sighted management. Management is all from outside Harman. Little or no inside promotion and recognition. Careers are okay if you are content doing the same job forever (ridiculous!)
