Pros

It's a job I guess

Cons

CEO's are selfish and only care about getting their money. They received millions in bonuses during the pandemic at the expense of the nurses! Don't care about the nurses and safe staffing. They pocket the money they make off of unsafe nurse-to-patient ratios. Would rather pay top dollar for travelers than keep their core staff. But it's okay, they think cheap pizza will make us happy! Pizza we can't even eat because we have no time for lunch breaks due to unsafe staffing.

Pros

They will higher people to work in specialty areas with out proper training or preceptorship. If you wanna risk loosing your license by accepting a position in an area you really want then do it but study at home and know the rhetoric and then at work get the hands on skills. You will have to take full stewardship of your continuing education and competency because HCA will not and if something was to happen the organization is notorious for placing the blame on the nurse who accepted the assignment.

Cons

Compensation is the lowest when compared to non profit organizations. Sign on bonuses are minimal if you even get one. No body knows how to do their job as they aren't trained, nor do they hold proper certifications. Management doesn't exist. Patient care is centered around the business model, meaning how can we make more money off patients performing unnecessary treatments just so the organization can bill more. Education is non existent, they don't even use AHA for they're BLS/ACLS/PALS. They are using primarily all new grad nurses since they don't mind the lower pay to get into an area they really want within the acute care setting. They don't care about the safety of their employees or patients, meaning they hire uncertified security personnel who are just transporters and can't do anything other than redirection and de escalation tactics. You will be overloaded, understaffed, and expected to make miracles happen.
