Pros

If your dream career path is in Marketing, particularly managing national and global brands then Henkel is one of the best starting points you can find. The level of experience you can gain here is amazing. Also, they have a suite in the Phoenix Arena, where you can get tickets to concerts and sporting events.

Cons

Be prepared for many 12-15 hour days working on tasks that have no value add to your business. This is a German company, and they have frequent requests for internal information which takes away from your ability to work on what you need to do to improve your brands position. Also, while there is office politics in every business that you go to, this place is pretty bad. Promotions and other opportunities are provided to those that play the political games, more than your performance on improving your brands top line or bottom line outcome.

Pros

Lots of responsibility and good, strong brands to work on. Good work/life balance. Good career opportunities.

Cons

Salaries are generally low that's why there is a very negative atmosphere in the office. The work/life balance is quite good in my position but many people are struggling with the work load. The management is not supportive, line managers don't stand up for their people. There are many inexperienced people in manager positions.

Pros

-Work life-balance (not so much work though) -Easy interview -Flexible work hours (only during home office as in the office you have to insert your company card when you enter or leave office like a modern day slave)

Cons

-Operational job. Pay attention to that. There are jobs with fancy titles but 99% of jobs (in general in Slovakia) are operational and administrative. You will be the cheap worker/colleague for the HQ doing a monkey job. -LOW salaries, especially if you are a foreigner. The so called perks are ridiculous and the 13th and 14th salaries are given to you proportionally depending on how many months you have worked (or maybe they won’t finally give it to you). -You are treated like a number in the excel. There are so tight budgets for you which proves what you are for them. For example for a language course which is peanuts for them, you should prove to the management that there is “business need” and the whole process can be painful. Just a language course. -You will work with people who really believe that they are doing what their title says, no awareness that they work for a service center. Some people think they invent the wheel! Don’t expect to make a networking which will help you in the future. Most of the people are Slovaks, not so many foreigners and those who are foreigners are trying to leave Slovakia or to move internally within Henkel! -Think twice before you accept an offer and if you do so be aware that you will have an operational job, you won’t gain worthy skills and in some years you will not be competitive in the market. You won’t save any money as well as the salaries are very low. They train the management to lie to the employees, for example they will tell you that your job will be more analytical in the future, you will receivea salary increase, if you are foreigner during team building activities you will be told that even though the salaries are lower than in Austria for example the prices are lower so in the end a worker in Slovakia has the same purchasing power with one in Austria or Germany (just look Eurostat or make a calculations and you will see that your purchasing power will be one of the lowest in Europe). Lies that don’t make any sense and even kids won’t believe. -If you finally accept an offer stay maximum for one year as many people with ambitions and nice degrees are doing.
