Pros

Pay is moderately good if your prepared to work shifts

Cons

There is little to no work life balance. It's all about the business not the workers.

Pros

Lots of support for maintaining work/life balance, training and ongonig development is good, opportunities for moving to different roles if you play the game right

Cons

Obviously it's very political, some decisions are set by ministers so you have no input, salary progression is limited, there is a media/social stigma to being a civil servant.
