Pros

The Home Office has an extremely healthy and supportive working culture, where everyone is encouraged to perform to the best of their ability. There are many learning opportunities, and a diverse range of roles - particularly operational ones. Programme and Project managers often work with diverse teams, including excellent contractor staff, and make an early real life impact on protecting the public.

Cons

Home Office Programme Management roles are best suited to experienced professionals or those (like attendees of the PPM Fast Stream, PLP or MPLA) who are on directed learning pathways. The roles often require experience of the application of a range of PPM and Agile techniques and usually require knowledge at least some technical or digital skills, and the constraints associated with Government work.
