Pros

You have a job, and a salary. Plus, if you make it that far, a very nice pension.

Cons

Between the bureaucracy, micromanagement, poor systems, and unnecessary processes, you will find nothing here but frustration, anger, and resentment. Unless you're fresh out of Uni or starting your first job. In which case you'll known no better and accept it blindly (like senior management do). This is why DMs only have a life span of two years. NOT because of the content of the interviews they're performing (as harrowing as it can be). My advice: don't apply. But if you do, get signed off probation ASAP and move on within the Civil Service ASAFP (the career opportunities are actually quite good - look at FastStream)

Pros

The digital development programme is a fantastic foot through the door. The concept/idea is a great way to learn and grow into a new profession. The staff you work with on placements is great.

Cons

The managers running the programme, including the line manager you would receive if you were on this programme/employment, are a disgrace. The Director refuses to take on any criticism and immediately shuts it down with passive aggressiveness. There are clear subconscious and conscious biases fuelling the programme's management, with staff being treated very differently because of their race and gender.
