Challenging work. High levels of responsibility. Competitive annual leave, gold standard pension.

Cons

Low salary, poor additional incentives. Very difficult to remove poorly performing staff, so you carry a lot of dead weight. Have to actively participate in making the world a worse place.

The culture is the worst I've experienced and the constant failings of senior leadership to stand up to ministers makes it an embarrassment
