Flextime, flex workplace help with personal/work life balance.

Cons

Annual ranking system can be oppressive, and ranking results seldom reflect the real contributions of "quieter" employees. Solid performers who prefer to shun the limelight are frequently left lower in the rankings than they should, and this in turn can have negative repercussion on their salary levels and employment security. Too many managers reward flash in the annual rankings, even unproductive flash, ahead of solid contributors working out of the spotlight. Downsizing and threat of further downsizing is creating a culture of climbing over coworker's backs at any cost to stay ahead of the pack.

Pros

Tremendous work flexibilty in terms of when and where to work. Depending on job may work with some of the best minds in the industry. Salary and benefits are competitive, however the cost of living in the Poughkeepsie, NY location has gotten dramaticly more expensive over the past few years but salaries haven't nearly kept up to make it worthwhile to live/work here instead of for example a place like Austin, TX.

Cons

Stagnant salary and career growth. New hires fleeing due to uninpired leadership and work. Very low morale. High cost of living and not other opportunities in the area outside of IBM keeps salaries down.

Excellent work/life balance (ie. working from home flexibility, support for varying schedules, no ridiculous hours)

Cons

Sometimes there are too many processes which can hinder work from getting done. Not very agile when it comes to development.
