No future ahead

Pros

Used to be the salary (back in 2000-2007 the company had plenty of money to hire top picks as the wholesale industry was booming. This came to an end.

Cons

Sinking ship with no plans on investment on wholesale market ahead, let alone retail or technology: the Boss app is no future. Telecoms are in a downward spiral and wholesale is appealing only for frauds. Europe branch is a wild feud. 1) wholesale: Management opted years ago for further limiting account managers' perimeter in a desperate attempt to make vertical structures (useless except for trying to put a distance in payslips with direct managers. Ridiculous too, as the skill sets are very basic and levelled) making their tasks look more and more like traders. The job could much more efficiently be done by dumb machines, and be learned in two days now. Retail is a lost battle as can not compete. 2) The company is desperately after profit and will run over anyone's body to achieve its goals: people are made redundant on yearly basis and very poorly managed. 3) Middle managers lack basic skills (including presence, leadership and manners: very famous case of hungover manager attending meetings and not even being able to speak) and mostly favour of old benefits: they were simply promoted for being there at the right time or friendly, with no questions asked on their poor performance. 4) Violations of ethics code hidden by HR: no measures taken against people insulting employees, harassing them and making fun of them, including despicable sexual comments normally forbidden and cause of firing in any decent organization (testosterone rules). Overall, a very bad atmosphere, with colleagues competing against each other and always at war. This is directly caused by the harsh conduct code applied in Europe by wannabe managers, who lack basic literacy desperate to protect their little feud. 5) IDT Europe crisis: thinning margins were predictable years back, but the company kept spending money over trying to multiply useless PTT interX rather than consolidating. 6) Pervasive saving culture is very limiting. Overall the company has been choosing the immigrants/low paying target, promoting an image of "discount" and “cheap” versus quality. Too late to go back now. 7) overall, it is not a company where top notch people stick around as there is no company inspiring culture, other than how to fight with colleagues and start wars.

Thank you for your hard work, and contributions to IDT. We find some of your comments extremely troubling and take them very seriously. Had these been reported to HR, we assuredly would have looked into this promptly and of course tried to remedy it. Please submit a report to humanresources@idt.net and we will still investigate it. We have the best Wholesale Carrier team in the world. Our leaders and employees in this division have been with us for a long time and are the best in the business! The wholesale minutes market remains a large global business and IDT Carrier Services is one of the Top 5 wholesale minute carriers in the world. As the exclusive Gateway carrier to a growing list of Latin American destinations, and with the launch of IDT SMS business, we are excited about the future opportunities for the IDT Carrier Services business. Still, as we outline in all of our quarterly earnings reports, there has certainly been a decline in paid minutes due to free alternatives like WhatsApp. This industry change has been felt more in Europe than elsewhere. In order to adapt to industry headwinds, we are investing heavily in new businesses like Unified Communications (net2phone), Point of Sale retail store management (National Retail Solutions), and new communications and fin-tech services offered by Boss Revolution. Our two Boss Revolution apps are top of the line apps and have been very successful with over 1.5 million active monthly users. We are also very confident that our customers will be impressed with all the new features and new products we will be launching over the coming months.

Pros

The people at IDT are very nice to work with.

Cons

The AC system is frequently broken, the water pressure in the building is poor, their is no cooler water but just a filter they put onto to the Newark tap water so most people bring in their own water, the Gym is so in need of repair with much of the equipment broken, and no one is really sure what the Telecom CEO does.
