Pros

- Good work life balance (at least in non-management positions) - Up to 40 hours of payed time off to volunteer - Lots PTO (more than anyone I graduated with right out of college) - Upper management tries to maintain transparency

Cons

- No formalized training programs for interns or recent graduates - Need to take charge of your own career progression (can be Pro or Con)

Pros

The work-life balance is amazing. Most people only work 4 days a week. It's a great company to take lots of training and develop yourself. Salary is good and vacation days are almost unlimited. I've seen people take 5-6 week vacations like it's the most normal thing. ING is pretty innovative within the financial industry, using social collaboration, big data and their own innovation lab to look at new opportunities.

Cons

Things move extremely slow, especially in IT, which is very frustrating if you want to get things done. The company has been shrinking and will keep shrinking in the coming years. There's not a lot of budget for projects and many people are being let go each year. This leaves its mark on the culture. People that have been working in ING for a while have amazing benefits. Unfortunately many of them are just waiting for their retirement, lacking any motivation to change. This is very frustrating especially knowing that they make 4-5 times your salary and don't really get anything done.
