Pros

You get really great benefits and paid time off right off the bat. The people are very friendly and the trainers are really helpful. They also have a great program where if you have to commute a long distance to work and there is a snowstorm they will put you up in a nice hotel near the job.

Cons

Very stressful job because you are dealing with people's 401(k)s and retirement money. A lot of people don't understand the laws and rules around their 401(k)s and take it out on you. You also are not allowed to stand up for yourself or ask people to calm down or anything, you just have to take what the customer dishes out at you. They also throw new clients at you regardless of if they think you're ready or not.

Pros

Dutch work culture is very good. Direct communication, not much bureaucracy compared to other organizations. Secondary benefits such big discount and mortgage and educational facilities are some of best in the Netherlands. Despite the whole splitting of and selling parts of business the atmosphere is good. In these troubling times it feels like a very solid and capable institution with smart and dedicated people on pretty much all levels. Quite happy working here.

Cons

The biggest con is the salary...it is absolutely ridiculous. The whole pay scale system is very rigid. Even if you do a good job the advancement is minimal in real dollar terms. It pays to job hob and negotiate, because once within the system you can't really move salary wise. I think the bank will lose talented people to companies/countries with higher compensation.

Not a bad place to work.

Pros

Good compensation package. Steady paycheck. Competitive bonus stucture. Diverse company and generally a stable place to work, at least before the IPO (which is casting uncertainty on the future).

Cons

Career growth virtually non-existent. Good resume building opportunity to work for a large institution, then take skills and knowledge to another company with a path to career growth.
