Popularity Contests

Pros

stocked kitchen, and fun culture

Cons

it is truly a popularity contest here, work ethic and meeting goals only gets you so far. My direct manager at the time would say inappropriate things, and unfortunately comes with the culture being that its a younger crowd. It's fine if you are looking for a full time job fresh out of college, but don't expect to create an everlasting career here.

Sip The Koolaid To Succeed

Pros

Catered meal, ping pong table, and happy hour here and there. Easy product to sell if you have good leads. If your leads are good and you aren't too lazy you can easily hit your quota. Base salary sucks but if you aim for mid size companies you'll receive a good return on commission.

Cons

This is a "Sip The Koolaid" culture. To succeed here just sip the Indeed koolaid, brown nose your manager and pretend to be bestfriends with all of your coworkers. I've heard management use inappropriate language, talk insanely bad about employees who quit or were fired. They would go on linkedin profiles and make fun of previous employees. Some managers are good and others aren't. However, if you catch on quickly and don't need a lot of guidance than the bad managers won't impact you so much. Benefits aren't good. The medical benefits didn't offer much coverage.

Manipulative and unfair management

Business Outlook

Pros

- Free lunch, snacks - Good personal time offs - Nice office location in town

Cons

- Management doesn't care about your growth, they pretend to do so when it is time for reviews - No action, only words - management will try to convince you they are on your side, believe me they are not - Lots of feedback collected on different levels but almost no action, follow ups on them - Engineering leadership cannot resolve conflicts between product and engineering - Time wasting and inefficient performance evaluation process

Hi there. We’re disappointed to read that you felt your leadership team has not been able to meet your expectations. As the Engineering Chief of Staff one of my biggest priorities is to make sure the organization constantly reviews and refines our hiring, performance management, and progress-through-level processes. This helps us make sure we are as effective and efficient as possible. We also review market compensation data at least once a year and make appropriate adjustments to stay competitive. We work very hard to create a great environment for our employees, and we’re glad that you enjoy the perks. But it’s not just about the perks. Our goal is to be the best place to work where our employees feel valued, engaged, and productive, and that every team member has the opportunity to make significant impact to Indeed’s mission of helping people get jobs. With all that said, this continues to be a journey for us, and we would like to learn more from you about other areas of opportunities we may be overlooking. Please get in touch with us at inside@indeed.com for a confidential chat, so we can look into this further. Best, Mary Bui-Pham Engineering Chief of Staff, Indeed
