Pros

It's a respected company. Everyone knows about Intel Corporation. Lately the management has been given employees more of a voice in telling what we think, and that's good. There's not a lot a free perks here, except some manufacturing people get into the chip loaner program where the company "loan" you an engineering sample to build your own computer with. Another reason to work for Intel is that Intel is "winning" right now. That helps with employee morale. You don't want to be working for a loser...

Cons

The review process isn't that great. However, it has improved a lot during my time here.

Pros

Unbelievably deep talent pool, some incredible managers at all levels, results orientation. Compensation is competitive, especially if performance-based compensation is included. Opprtunity for international assignments.

Cons

Company's pretty big. Upward mobility very limited. In many groups, significant personal sacrifice part of the job description. As a senior manager, to survive I spent far too much time polishing presentations (mine or my group's) and too little developing the organization or learning the technology.

Pros

The overall pay and benefits package is actually quite nice and the actual work done can be very rewarding. Having medical, dental, and vision helps out a lot these days. The total package also includes bonuses twice a year, stock bonuses once a year, and resonably nice 401k program.

Cons

Work life balance is given lip service only. Senior management is always talking about it being a core value, but middle management completely ignores it. Communication from upper management is also lacking. How would you like to be a middle manager with 20 years at the company and be told when you show up for work that you no longer have a job because of unannounced layoffs. Better yet, how would you like to get a call while you are on sabbatical and be told that once you come back in two weeks, you will be unemployed because of those same layoffs.
