Pros

Decisions are weighed with respect to how they will impact Customers, Shareholders, and Employees. Top 100 places to work rating is achieved through management focus on employees as a strategic competitive advantage. Financial software domain knowledge is deep and pervasive.

Cons

Organizations work in silos with issues communicating and coordinating across silos. Senior leaders seem to be rewarded for delivering within their domain, but there doesn't seem to be recognition for collaborative efforts. Desktop-centric engineering and release approaches can be frustrating for web world.

Pros

Intuit hires really good people and have amazing market share for their products. The culture is open and as honest as I could hope for from corporate america.

Cons

Intuit has 2 major sources of revenue (QuickBooks and TurboTax) and can't seem to innovate new products/services outside of these 2 domains. Execution on starting and growing new businesses has been a filure for the last 5 years

Pros

Smart, well-intentioned people working on valuable software produces and services. The company is values-driven and genuinely cares about its employees and its customers. Intuit's main products, QuickBooks, TurboTax, and Quicken are mature, highly functional - and profitable. Intuit has growth opportunities in web-delivered software products including QuickBase, Payroll, web-based versions of its core products, and payment solutions. The company has historically done a good job of promoting from within, including the current CEO.

Cons

Too much big company bureaucracy. Intuit has been successful for a long time and has acquired a bias against accepting ideas from outside the company. Stock price has been flat since 2000.
