Pros

Overall, the people are quite bright, and behave very decently toward one another. Work-life balance can be good, if you work hard at setting limits with your manager. Compensation is competitive.

Cons

The company is not growing, and is actually downsizing, so advancement opportunities are quite limited. And since Intuit actually does have a lot of really smart people working there, that further limits advancement, since there are lots of good people and few spots. I used to think that Executive Management was quite bright, but some recent moves have made me lose confidence.

Pros

Salary and benefits, employee networks, Idea Jams, working with intelligent people.

Cons

If you can be a brain-dead cheerleader for the concept-of-the-moment, then you'll go far. Learn to parrot back everything management says without any critical thoughts of your own. if you can think independently, you'll be a threat to people who like to follow a crowd. It's better to fit in than have a distinct personality. The more jargon you use, the better chance you have to advance in your career. Planning meetings are exercises in editing PowerPoint slides rather than creating a workable strategic plan for real 21st century business growth. Intuit's concept of diversity inclusion: bring your whole self to work, except for the parts we don't like.

Pros

1. Flexible schedules available for many employees, including work from home options. 2. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are very good, and reasonably priced. 3. Generous 401(k) matching. 4. Stock options and ESPP purchase at 15% discount. At times has been of great value, but in a down market, the benefit is clearly reduced.

Cons

1. Job security isn't what it used to be. There don't seem to be any set rules management follows for letting people go. There's a sense of anxiety in not knowing how solid of ground you are on. 2. A significant number of decisions by management, particularly in certain departments, are poorly thought out and don't seem to follow any logical strategy. 3. Employees with specialized knowledge and significant experience are continually expected to give their heart and souls to the company, but it doesn't feel that the sentiments are returned. 4. It's definitely a good thing to continually be challenged in your position, but when the challenges are not in line with your core job responsibilities or personal strengths, it is more difficult to stay motivated. Many challenges I am given in my current position are challenges along the lines of figuring out what the latest management buzz words are rather than focusing on delivering a quality product.
