Edmonton office was good until SciQuest bough Upside
Pros
Most of the pros were on the time the Edmonton office was Upside. After SciQuest bought Upside, the culture changed and many promises were broken. I am not sure how the developers that are still there could see a bright future on this office while they slowly see the development moving to US.
Cons
- The Edmonton office was told by the CEO the development of the product would stay in Edmonton. Most of developers and managers already left the company. They are barely hiring in Edmonton. - The Edmonton product would not change from the language it was developed. Last time I heard it is already being developed in Java in US. - Stayed without a HR person in Edmonton for a long time. - The HR in Edmonton was just a proxy between the HR in US and Edmonton. - Lower salaries raises than Upside used to offer. - The CEO is very focused on the shareholders. If you are thinking in becoming an employee, beware you will not be considered as important. - All senior developers that I worked with in these office for over 4 years left the company in less than a year after the acquisition.
