Pros

Fairly good rates of pay 30 days holiday a year

Cons

Expected to work likes machine all day, everyday. Expected to take a maximum of 30 minutes break, regardless of how long your shift is. 14.5 hour shifts are not common. The harder you work, the more they expect from you. No bonus or overtime rates for bank holidays or even night shifts. Rotas often changed without notice. Often called in on your days off. Always short staffed. No staff discount scheme. Very unorganised management system from head office and rdc, resulting in no common sense in the way they do things. Monthly meetings which you have to attend even if it's your day off. Unrealistic work targets - 6ft high euro pallet is expected to be worked in 20 minutes (and your also expected to answer till bells whilst doing this!) New starters are given very little training and just stuck on till. Company has no regard for working time regulation laws. Very poor work/life balance resulting in many employees suffering from bad health, stress and depression.

Pros

Salary is the only benefit, but you are constantly reminded of this, and that you will not receive the same anywhere else. No perks no bonus no matter how well store performs.

Cons

Extremely long hours,60/70 hours a week which were worked off the clock. No breaks, everything timed, till scan speeds etc. Constantly harassed by suits from head office on power trips. Not physically possible to carry out the number of daily tasks whist trying to maintain a store. Do not consider taking a position here if you have any life, friends etc.,because you will have no life when leaving. After nine long year's i decided the money was no longer worth it,and its the best decision i have ever made. There is life after Lidl but it takes a while to readjust to a normal life again though!!

Pros

Decent pay, great benefits and a wonderful HR team

Cons

There is no incentive to being a hard worker, people who don’t pull their weight get away with doing the bare minimum while others have to pick up their slack and no disciplinary action is taken against these low performers. Very inadequate staffing and recently even as a full time employee I do not even get scheduled the bare minimum of 32 hours, this has affected all of the full time people at this location. There is no communication from higher management but write ups are given out like candy to those who go above and beyond daily.
