Pros

If I’d have completed this 2 weeks ago there would have been many pros now there is little other than having wonderfully supportive workmates

Cons

Any opportunity to work flexibly has been removed Perceived Victorian style dictatorial leadership Atrocious gender pay gap made worse by lack of ability to work flexibly No trust in Leadership Incredibly low morale of colleagues Huge amount of uncertainty in environment created by leaders Promise of cultural change led and demonstrated by leaders proven to be a fallacy

Pros

They offer a decent base Salary

Cons

- offices are really really poor. The poorest london office I've ever worked in... they offer poor hot drink/snack facilities. - I was told it was really flexible working and really supported the work life balance. I find this to be entirely untrue. They are extremely regimented in when you have to come in and there is no excuse for not being online between 9-5. - They seem unconcerned with the coat of living crisis and are not doing as much as other companies to relieve the pressure of this from their employees

Constantly at risk, but good benefits

Pros

- Good compensation/benefits/pension, especially for outside London - For a large financial company, relatively modern values/attitudes (at face value at least), tech (they really invest in tech) - There's a lot of great people and good managers - Offices are mostly nice with lots of investment - Lots of learning opportunities, common to train e.g. software engineers out from the branch staff

Cons

- Constant rounds of redundancy, noone is really safe. Branch closures make the news, but on the tech side there is a huge outsourcing push to India. - A lot of politics - becomes "who you know" at much lower grades than most companies. - Your job is to get directors to achieve their targets so they get their big bonuses, even if meeting these targets compromises everything from your mental health to customer outcomes. - The above points mean most people are driven by covering their own backs, and doing blame games when things go wrong. - There's also as many bad managers as good, who don't align to the values but are never challenged on this.
