Pros

I enjoyed my work here but the old school policies killed any chance to learn new valuable skills. Not enough training but I had a great team.

Cons

They pay less then other companies

Burned Out

Pros

Work life balance, the ability to work from home, highly intelligent coworkers, cool projects, decent pay and benefits.

Cons

It is hard to get anything done in a timely manner due to bureaucracy and the daunting number of process controls in place. The workload can be incredibly high at times. Very understaffed due to retirements and cost saving initiatives. New hires are thrown into critical roles with no real on the job training which sets them up for complete failure. Everyone in manufacturing is constantly being pushed to meet schedule need dates and eventually this burns employees out to the point where they leave or just stop caring. Management is a rotating cast of characters . People are constantly leaving for other better positions in the company. Ladder climbing is a real thing. It is hard to be friends with co-workers or technicians because of the constant push to get things done - everyone is stressed. Technicians commute in from far away and arrive at 4 am to avoid traffic. Support staff does not arrive until 6-7 am. That is where the resentment begins. Technicians on the whole are not friendly and sometimes openly hostile towards MEs in particular. Work life balance can be put in jeopardy if you are in a position where you are on the line to deliver something. Be ready to work 50-60+ hours regularly if you care about your work reputation and getting things done. Sink or swim is the name of the game at LM Space MMC in Sunnyvale.

Pros

Working at Lockheed Martin has been the best way to start my career! They have invested in my career from training to promotion opportunities. I have the freedom to work remotely to support my family on a flexible schedule, the support from the team and my manager to accomplish my work, and the most exciting projects to work on. Here at Lockheed Martin I am enabled to do my best work by being given work life balance, great team members, and the resources I need to excel.

Cons

I have not experienced any real “cons” while working here.

Pros

A culture where new ideas and diverse perspectives are embraced, where your voice is heard, and you are included in the conversation. The ability to make an impact here is ginormous. Unparalleled continuing education, training, and growth opportunities. Extremely flexible work-life balance, even during times of adversity. Respectful leadership fosters professional growth and acts as a constant cheerleader. Enormous potential for those willing to consider various career paths in various locations.

Cons

Not as many remote opportunities as I would like to see.

Pros

Work can be interesting and enjoyable. Fellow employees are (mostly) good to work with and supportive, even across disciplines. 9/80 work schedules. Entry level positions can advance fairly quickly if you do the work.

Cons

Need to watch your currency in your degree specialty. Many jobs are much more systems level, and any tech edge you might have going in may be lost after a few years in that sort of job. Work/life balance is not a priority, even in long-term "push" activities. Push can follow push, ad infinitum. Review (and therefore lay-off list) ratings are REQUIRED to be distributed across program and down to team level, regardless of actual team (or individual) performance. Even high performing teams must have a (or more depending on teams size) "basic contributor", even though that person might be much better than a high performer on another team. Higher level jobs require changing jobs - you have to leave your team in order to be promoted. Entry level management tasks (at Aeronautics Fort Worth) do not align with corporate training for those managers. For example, corporate work load at Manager level says 20 hours tasks, 20 hours people. Actual is more like 40+ tasks, and then deal with your employees.
