Pros

Good benefits, decent work life balance, training offered but you have to advocate for yourself to get it.

Cons

Top heavy leadership, always statusing to leadership, everything is hot then goes nowhere, Company allows poor performers to idle through while others pick up the slack... hey, but we're a team, right!?

Pros

Good salary and benefits. Somewhat flexible work schedule, depending on your direct supervisor

Cons

Poor work/life balance. They ensure that trainings/literature all emphasize it, but the work culture does not allow for it. Managers are allowed to have flexibility, but are able to enact it at their discretion and many are driven to micromanage based on Senior leadership's oversight.

Pros

Strong Job Security As one of the largest defense contractors in the world, Lockheed Martin offers relatively stable employment tied to long-term government contracts. Competitive Pay and Benefits Compensation packages are generally above industry averages, with solid health insurance, retirement plans (including a strong 401(k) match), and paid time off. Cutting-Edge Technology and Projects Employees often work on advanced aerospace, defense, and cybersecurity technologies—an exciting environment for engineers, scientists, and analysts. Professional Development Opportunities The company invests in employee growth through training programs, tuition assistance, and internal mobility options. Prestige and Networking Working for a global defense leader enhances career credibility and networking opportunities within the aerospace and defense industries. Diversity of Roles and Locations With divisions in aeronautics, space, missiles, and rotary systems, employees can explore a wide range of technical and administrative roles across the U.S. and abroad. Strong Ethical Standards and Mission Many employees find purpose in supporting national security and contributing to innovation that has real-world impact.

Cons

Bureaucratic and Slow-Moving Culture As a large defense contractor, decision-making can be slow, and processes can feel rigid due to regulations and layers of management. Work-Life Balance Varies by Team Some departments have high workloads and tight deadlines, especially around contract deliveries or program milestones. Limited Innovation Speed Innovation can be constrained by government regulations, long approval cycles, and a conservative risk culture. Security Clearance Requirements Many roles require strict security clearances, which can delay hiring or limit internal transfers. Diversity and Inclusion Still Developing While improving, some employees report challenges in representation and inclusion in certain divisions or leadership levels. Geographic Limitations Many key facilities are in specific regions (e.g., Fort Worth, Bethesda, Orlando), which may not suit everyone’s lifestyle or cost-of-living preferences. Performance Recognition Gaps High-performing employees sometimes feel limited by seniority-based advancement or inflexible pay structures.

Pros

Good work life balance (I am on a 4x10 flex schedule with every friday treated as "flex time" if I need it to reach 40hr/wk. I also enjoy being paid weekly. Good job security & stability from working in a large corporate workforce (we can absorb more business losses without needing layoffs). Fair salary and generous 401k match and employee stock options (which earn dividends). Holiday hours, sick pay, and PTO are competitive, with significant advantages in these areas for employees who stay at the company for many years. The compensation scheme for annual raises and bonuses seems fair and transparent. Top performers can usually expect +5% raises and higher bonuses at the end of the year. There are also opportunities to win out-of-cycle bonuses for excellent performance or technical breakthroughs such as patents or trade secrets. Technical training and engineering resources are plentiful, and the strong team attitude makes LMC feel like a great place to work. Work is generally exciting and fulfilling (your experience may vary), and the engineering staff are generally proud of what they do and strive to have a positive relationship with vendors and customers. I feel good about working here and am proud to tell people about my career at LMC.

Cons

Lots of travel, corporate red tape, and management can lose touch just by virtue of how large the company is. Promotion can be slow, and it is frustrating that excelling at your job doesn't necessarily mean promoting faster. Senior leaders tell us we need to move quickly and innovate, take risks, and win business, and yet it feels like middle management is constantly risk averse and fails to take action, move quickly, and make key decisions in a timely manner. This sometimes leaves the technical staff feeling powerless to influence outcomes, despite the vast resources and expertise available to us, leading to a feeling of wasted effort at times. Various divisions, or "business areas" (i.e. Aero, MFC, RMS, Space) within the corporation tend to "backstab" eachother instead of pursuing a unified corporate strategy (but that seems to have improved a lot in the last year or so) and sometimes it feels like we are our own worst enemy.
