Pros

lots of opportunities within the organization-you can move around in different departments once you get in the door, good experience to work with a large, sucessful company, nice work environment in a relatively cheap area of the country, job security and stability is also a plus for Lowe's,

Cons

lots of red tape, lots of people just waiting for retirement--not energetic or motivated, pay is lower than at other retailers, cutting expenses so much, its to the detriment of the business, total lack of holidays-Lowe's is only closed two days a year, so there rest of the holidays are floating, and there is not many of them, lack of vacation, especially for non-senior employees

Pros

They pay fairly well for entry-level, they give decent raises, there are some upper-level jobs that are worth having. Also, you learn about home improvement, which saved me money when I had the knowledge and resources to do my own projects.

Cons

Management says that they're fair about who gets jobs, but they will lie to you about your chances of getting a particular job, or pick someone without considering your application at all. The company wants to be WalMart instead of the local hardware store, which makes it impersonal and hard to perform as well as you could, as you have very little support in going above and beyond in helping customers.

Pros

Compensation & Benefits are at the top of the list, but overall it is a great place to work. The managers are generally good people with good intentions, and they have a tendency to actually listen to your ideas and consider them if not pat you on the back and tell you "good thinking". Praise seems to be fairly abundant and hard work is usually noticed and praised.

Cons

You will always have at least one incompetent manager to deal with no matter where you work.
