Pros

You will certainly learn the value of hard work at Meltwater. Managers plan fun outings and celebrations.

Cons

Please be aware of the patterns of behavior at this company. Look at the spike of positive reviews on the SAME day in Feburary 2015. There is no individuality at this company, and no independent decision making within Client Success. Clients are managed according to a schedule pushed on to you by upper management, which is solely focused on renewing clients as early as possible. Client Success is essentially a fancy word for SALES. If you are looking for an actual relationship management position, and to be respected by your clients as a high-value consultant, this is not the role for you. You will be seen by most clients as an annoyance. This originally stems from the way prospective clients are treated during the sales process.

Pros

This would be a great job for someone right out of college, with a drive to succeed but no work experience. Meltwater will train you in sales, give you a quota and let you go. If you do well in sales, the possibilities are almost endless for you. The team here is also amazing. The CEO has a strong focus on culture, and wants to hire for fit and train for skill. Everyone is very warm and friendly, eager to get to know new colleagues in their office as well as colleagues in Meltwater's offices around the world. Meltwater has a lot of fun as a company, both in and out of the office. You will usually hear music playing during the day, you'll see people eating lunch together in the kitchen during lunch, and there is always someone to go out for a beer with you after work. And the parties! Whoa, they can get crazy.

Cons

The sales management team runs the organization, but they don't have the relevant work experience to do so. They're all promoted from within based on their sales accomplishments and their relationship to the CEO. This leads to group-think where everyone has the same opinions as the CEO, or they are demoted/let go. The sales team is promoted to positions outside of sales, like finance and marketing, which makes it difficult to operate those departments effectively. The people being promoted are top performers, so they keep their 6 figure salary to do a job they are clueless about. The worst part is that the people being promoted are cocky - they think they know it all, and they know they will never be let go from the company, so they act like they "own" the department and they're treated like kings. Management that is brought on through external hires can't seem to hold their jobs. In less than one year, the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Culture Officer and TWO different Chief Marketing Officers left the company. Apparently, both parties agreed that it wasn't a good fit, but nobody hired from outside the organization seems to be. You get the strong sense that they were asked to leave. The starting salary for new employees isn't competitive for San Francisco, especially for a company of Meltwater's size. This is especially disconcerting when you realize the ex-salesperson without any experience in your department is making double what you're making... no wonder your offer was at "the top of the budget."
