Pros

the food pantry is good

Cons

The account development role should be retitled 'glorified meeting booker.' The other roles in the company don't take 95% of the ADRs seriously, so ADRs try to compensate for that internally by pumping themselves up internally with illusions of grandeur and trying to convince themselves that they're making an impact at the company. -Pair that with getting guilt tripped by management for being in the office less than 10 hours a day. The sad thing is that management and the rest of the company knows that most new hires are straight out of college and don't know any better, so they take advantage of them and work ADRs like dogs not knowing what a normal work environment is. - All of management is a few years out of college as well (MuleSoft is the only company they've ever worked for), so not only do they not know how to manage, and end up poorly managing and falling short of transparency with their new hires, but the field sales organization and upper management doesn't take them seriously either. - They keep regurgitating the importance of "radical candor," when in fact you get barked at and at best ignored for being radically candid. - Management has prepackaged answers for employee concerns like "I understand why you're frustrated..." - They say we don't call with scripts, but we cold call with scripts.

Pros

There are some amazing, intelligent people at Mulesoft! Exciting business and product! Great benefits, compensation and work location.

Cons

It was challenging to work within the G&A function at MuleSoft along with being a woman in leadership. The leaders in this function were not transparent nor supportive. It often felt like my leaders were talking behind my back rather than being a supportive leader (providing feedback, coaching, growth opportunites and true leadership was lacking!) Executive leadership did not support or show appreciation for people programs, often times felt belittled and under-minded when proposing new programs or changes to help scale/mature business processes. The CEO was in every single decision which made it hard to get things done. Mulesoft significantly lacks diversity, especially women in leadership roles (just look at the Leadership team page on their website). In 2016, it was generally somewhere along the lines of 80% male, 20% female. Work/life balance is non-existent.

MuleSoft Response

It means a lot that from your time at MuleSoft, you remember the exceptional people at the company. However, I’m sorry to hear about some of the issues you spoke of while you were on the team. As a fast growing company that is rapidly growing our headcount, we need employee programs and processes that are not only scalable, but also maintain the agile, startup culture we’ve worked so hard to build. This isn’t easy to do, and we’ve certainly made mistakes along the way, but they were never due to a lack of concern for employee programs. Regarding your comment about women in leadership, we actively seek to create a diverse workplace where everyone is equally supported to do their best work. We have many women in leadership roles across the company, but we work to be better everyday. We have signed the Equal Pay Pledge and conduct regular audits to ensure parity in pay and opportunity across the organization. In our latest review, we found that women at MuleSoft are promoted at a slightly higher rate than men, and that compensation among levels and tenure is roughly equal.
