Pros

Prestige.....name recognition. Employment with the company can lead to other opportunities within NG. Policy is to promote from within the company ranks first and then hire outside the company if vacancies still exist.

Cons

lowest bid contract doesn't allow for much time off.

Pros

The same as many of its competitors, Northrop has decent early compensation and an acceptable benefits package. Education reimbursement especially has been a significant boon for me. Management is interested in carrying forward good ideas, and has processes in place to empower employees. In such a large organization, however, certain groups often are marginalized.

Cons

The defense industry is always rising and falling with the contracting decisions of our government. Right now, NGC is doing a phenomenal job capturing contracts, and much of this can be attributed to some strong leadership at the right levels. However, not enough is being done to solidify these gains.

Pros

Lots of opportunities for meaningful work in the defense industry. Large conglomerate means many different areas of interest are available. Engineers are treated as breadwinners. Senior management communicates frequently via email and town-hall meetings regarding important business concerns. Many internal R&D opportunities.

Cons

Large conglomerate means you have no idea who you are working for, no idea what most other parts of the company (or event your coworkers) are doing, and are often competing against bureaucracy or other parts of the company.
